Prairie Falcon With Young - Art Print - by John Perry Baumlin - See Larger Image
Weight: 3.00 pounds
Signed & numbered limited edition of 500. The North American Raptor Breeders' Association presents "Prairie Falcon With Young". This is the fifth and final in a series of five prints. The arrival of a parent falcon with prey at its western Nevada eyrie is always cause for much excitement among the young, whose enormous appetites keep the adults -- particularly the tiercel -- constantly occupied with the business of hunting. Here the female has alighted at the eyrie with the remains of a Townsend's ground squirrel. The life cycle of these abundant rodents, which can make up as much as 80% of the diet of the growing eyasses, may even determine the breeding schedules of the adult falcons. In another ten days or so, these young falcons will leave the security of the eyrie, learn the skills needed to survive, and assume their place among the rhythms & inseperable relationships that permeate all of nature. Measures: 22 1/2" x 29".
